Sire & Dams

Juliet 01     AKC Prinzessin Juliet Undomiel

“Juliet” is a very special dog.  She was born for a very special purpose.  I may be a little biased – after all, all dogs are special – but let me tell you her story.

In 1998, I rescued a 10-month-old male MS who had been abused.  I renamed him Romeo and gave him a very good home.  He rehabilitated quite a bit, but because of his past, he bit at any adult or child who tried to grab at him.  My mom (in her very great wisdom) and I knew that it would be better for Romeo to have a companion, who perhaps might even help improve his disposition.  But would it work?  And at his age would he accept another dog in the house?  Vets and dog lovers advised that it would have to be a puppy, and it would have to be a female.  Enter Juliet.

From the start, she seemed to know that I was her new mom, and she loved Romeo.  I paid careful attention to the two of them since Romeo was not especially crazy about this weird little critter at first.  Juliet never took no for an answer from Romeo.  With a little encouragement on my part, and a lot of bravery on hers, her persistence paid off.  Within a few months, I was delighted to see how her presence had brought a new spring to his step.  He was happier, and the two were always chasing each other or wrestling or playing tug of war with the “sockie.”  She quickly became his girl.  (I used to tell her that she was Romeo’s toy–I think she liked her role very much!)  Romeo’s biting habit did not completely go away, but his behavior and health did improve.  When Juliet attended beginner obedience classes at PetSmart, Romeo was crazy excited to do the homework lessons himself.  He responded so well to having work to do.  (I have to confess, both of my dogs have been smarter than I am.  Not sure if that’s good or bad.)

As an individual, Juliet is all dog.  Aside from being very playful, Juliet is a vocal little girl.  She loves investigating nooks and crannies, has a great sense of smell, and there’s not much she won’t do (or stick her nose into).  The only chewing fetish that ever struck her was scraps of paper and writing instruments–go figure–and she loves to curl up on my house slippers or clean clothes when I do laundry.  She loves having visitors (a.k.a. new friends).  When she’s allowed to sleep on the bed with me, she is a great comfort because she loves to snuggle right up against me.

The significance of Juliet’s name:  Prinzessin is in honor of a previous family MS who Juliet looks a lot like.  Juliet, the name she’s called, well, no Romeo is complete without his Juliet.  Undomiel is because when Juliet was a pup she had a white star on her chest.  Tolkien readers will understand.

I will always consider Juliet’s greatest triumph that she played a very big role in helping to rehabilitate an abused animal.  She instinctively knew exactly how to get on his good side, and she forgives so easily.  Since Romeo died in March, she has been learning how to be the “big dog” and is doing a good job at taking the watchful role that was previously Romeo’s.  She is a treasure, as I believe all dogs are.  Though Romeo is gone, I know that other special purposes lie in store for her.  And I am so looking forward to meeting her offspring and watching them grow into the special purposes that God has in store for them!

Brutus 01      AKC Brutus Maximus Wilkins

Owners Jeremy & Sharolyn Wilkins fell in love with “Brute” as a puppy and had to have him as part of their family.  Each family member has their own schnauzer, and Brutus happens to be Jeremy’s baby.  He was a typical adorable puppy, and as he got older they learned he had a great talent for jumping really high, climbing fences, and could escape from just about anything.  Brutus loves to play with their boys and is extremely loving.
